Born: 23 March 1968, Leytonstone, London, England, moved to Colchester, Essex at a young age.

Profession: Lead singer of UK pop group Blur. Actor

Attended School: Stanway Comprehensive, where he met Graham Coxon. East 15 Acting School. Goldsmith;s College, South London, where he met Alex James.

Moved to London 1987.

One sister Jessica.

Involved in a long-term relationship with Elastica's Justine Frischmann (now ended).

Former Bands: Circus (with Dave Rowntree and Graham Coxon) Two's A Crowd (with someone known only as 'Sam') Seymour (which would become Blur)

*Interesting trivia-Noel Gallagher once expressed a wish that Damon would contract the AIDS virus and die.....*

"When I was at drama school I really didn't understand what acting was about at all. I thought you had to really transform yourself. But coming back 12 years later, I think it's totally different. But that's a lot to do with self confidence............I definitely feel that under the right circumstances I could do something else. But I'll wait and see. I'm in that nice position where it doesn't matter if I do or don't. If I do do it, I want to do it really well, and do good things. I'm NOT doing it for the money."
